Thought of the day: Exit The Rough

One day while trying to golf, a member of my group, told me the secret to good golf. Keep it in the fairway. Hit it straight. My usual spot in the rough was a good metaphor. If you want to be good at something, focus on that thing, divert your talents and energies and focus on things straight ahead.Like golf, where sometimes we want to get more yardage, so we swing harder, usually that is when some of us get in trouble. That being said, once in the rough, how do we get out. I think a lot of people find themselves in this similar predicament, especially now. Times are tough, leadership is going sideways and we need some clear direction on how to get back in the fairway.

How do you get back in the Fairway. Set your goals. Shoot for the stars but know where you want to end up. 2) Have the passion to Bleed yourself dry for something. You want to get out of the rough, take a short iron and pitch your way out. Small little steps will get you moving at least in the right direction 3) Clear up Confusion. Why did I enter the rough. What adjustments can I now make, when I know where I want to go. 4) Focus on You. Go internal. No one can get you out of the rough. You must do it. Your caddy will help. He can point things out. If you are on a team, others may offer suggestions. Yet you have the club. It will be up to you.

Stay well, exit the rough and get back in the fairway. Peace

OVERCOME FEAR

How does one do this.

Look the monster in the eye and ask yourself: Am I alone in this battle?
Especially with regards to our global financial markets, no you are not. The who world has been jilted and everyone is running scared.
Fact and Opinions. What are real facts and what are stories made up. The world is going through a period of settling down. The market which was humming big time for a long time is taking a major breather ( as they would say in " Street Jargon" a correction).
However things went from bad to worst because everyone panics.

Reassess the situation, take a long walk, figure out a strategy by talking with others or your God, but preferably both.

Overcome fear usually means
1) Stop: address the issue. Don't run
2) Find a course of action
3) List three steps that you can do in that area so at least you feel as if you are fighting back
4) Act on that list
5) ALLIED EFFORT: no matter how alone you are, your not.
My father in law says all the time " many hands make light work"

Nobody does it alone. Have a great weekend.

Lost and Found:

This morning, I went and said a prayer to St. Anthony. The Patron Saint of Miracles but also things lost and now found. I prayed that Leaders would start materializing. Men and woman of strong mental and moral fiber. Who can see problems and have the strength to galvanize and organize a plan toward recovery.
Last night were the debates. We watched two men going for the most coveted offices in the free world, argue like little kids, over time. Are you kidding me! The word is watching. This is what we do.

We as Americans need to understand, what made us great, was not our shear Genius. It wasn't our ability to earn more sheets of paper with deceased notables on them.
It was our conviction, our faith, our sense of right and wrong. People weren't afraid to lead, to step up and be accountable. ( we all make mistakes, that's how we learn)

We are living in a new world. The Internet changed the way we will all live for now on.
What we are facing isn't a myopic US recession. We are facing a global problem. The world needs us to lead. It needs us to Harness the Power of our Directed Energies, to make this globe a better place. Our candidates last night were bickering over an extra Thirty seconds. Gentlemen PLEASE.

Say a prayer to whoever it might be, that St. Anthony will find us some leaders who were lost and need to be found. We will be much better, much stronger when we tackle the problems head on, as a group of people, not democrats and republicans, figure out where things are at. What the course of action that needs to be taken. Start moving in that direction. Our ingenuity, our intelligence and more so our HEART, will be a glowing neon light to the world. Instead of running scared and crying over the spilled milk, we will say " Follow Me".
Just like our descendants did prior to us. Have a great day. Attitudes need to shift. This will be our challenge.

Bend not Break:

Greetings on this hard but beautiful Oct. 6th. If you are in the Financial World, it's been a bitter pill to swallow. Radical change, wild shifts, unprecedented times. However Tough times don't last, tough people do. Now its time to consolidate and remember that nobody does it alone. Now is the time for ALLIED EFFORT.

Don't Quit
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,When the funds are low and the debts are high,And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,When care is pressing you down a bit,Rest! if you must; but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,As everyone of us sometimes learns,And many a failure turns aboutWhen he might have won had he stuck it out;Don't give up, though the pace seems slow; You might succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer thanIt seems to a faint and faltering man,Often the struggler has given upWhen he might have captured the victor's cup.And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out;The silver tint of the clouds of doubt; And you never can tell how close you are,It may be near when it seems afar;So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit; It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

Everyone is getting hit. Stay tough. TOT

Greetings: on this beautiful September 30th.

Message of the Day: Beams of Light

After the chirade in the House that we witnessed yesterday, the economy eating 1.2 trillion dollars, politicians ranting and spewing venom, it's time for all of us, to stand up and lead. We can't wait for others to do it. We are begging for anyone to lead and what the world saw yesterday on global front was a theatrical play, a Shakespearean tradgedy, that was pitiful.

How myopic can our leaders be, to think this is a political war cry. You had Barack Obama, having a rally, blaming the past 8 years of this administration for corporate greed, etc.. ( not that that isn't warranted) however does he not understand, the global impact that the US Economy has. He is to be the next President! Does he not see that this problem has massive ramifications. Does he not see, that after the great depression, a world war soon enveloped. Does history have to repeat itself?

Does Pelosi not understand " her comment about let the markets hear us now". They heard and reacted and people are out of their minds. 1.2 trillion dollars. That was wall street, main street, bourbon street, where the streets have no name, street car named desire, 10 downing street. All the streets around the globe heard. The best part is. During a crisis, where did they go, all of those members in the House.

ON VACATION

Last night a republican from Colorado mentioned how they are willing to get through this thing and work around the clock. Are you kidding me! You want to see people working around the clock,
Go back to the trade towers and see the cops and fireman, for months 24 hours a day, working like there was no tomorrow. Racing to fight time to find survivors. No one question, no one blamed, those men and woman acted. It was a sign to the world of the dilligence and passion of the American.

How about our armed service men and woman? Do they get to say" During a crisis" we need more time to evaluate this situation" Oh by the way, it's a holiday today. NO

As a matter of fact, one of the most decisive moments in the history of this planet was fought on a battlefield from Dec. 22-27 in 1944. The place was called Bastogne and its remembered for being titled " The Battle of the Bulge". Can you imagine if General McAuliffe told the Germans upon their request for surrender, instead of "Nuts", sorry boys, Christmas Holiday is approaching and we'll have to resume this conflict on the 26th. The GI's want to eat their MRE's with some egg nog.

This is a face we've shown before" Solidarity in a Crisis", not lets run out of town back to our constituents and explain how we did what you wanted and we just blew up the world, isn't that great. We just gave you nicer pillows and sheets for the titanic voyage across the Atlantic.

Leaders are supposed to lead. In John F Kennedys " Profiles in Courage, he quoted Dante from his inferno where it says' " The Hottest Places in hell, are reserved for those men, in times of great moral crisis, who maintain their neutrality and do nothing'.

Ladies and gentleman, hell got a bit more crowded yesterday after witnessing this abduction from our leadership.

Beams of Light:
This morning I saw an amazing Sun Rise. Ominous clouds enveloped the sky. All you could see were beams of light, shooting down to the water blocked by these massive dark clouds.
It was almost a metaphor to all of us. Hey there is plenty good out there in the world, don't get so bogged down by the dark clouds. The sun is right around the corner.

America has some of the brightest people in the world. Let s act like it. Let our leaders figure out a plan and act on it.
Heres a Plan:
We need to get on " THE RIGHT PATH". Start doing things daily that will move us in a forward direction.
2) FUTURE GROWTH. This nation and our economy is fueled by growth and development. Focus more on the future growth and how we are going to get there. Now we are part of the solution as opposed to part of the problem ( evidenced by this show yesterday, it was like toddlers arguing over spilled milk at the table. Pelosi in diapers on one end, the entire republican party on the other end in their huggies. Where were the adults to reprimand them both, clean up the milk and let them return to watching Noggin.)

3) ALLIED EFFORT: regardless of it all, we must do this together. I can't say I blame Obama, he is inches from the white house, he can't fall off the horse now. However, you need to lead to. What do you think is going to happen, once you get to Pennsylvania Ave. McCain, you as well.

Here is your plan, for the economy isn't as straightforward as everyone would like.
Get everyone on the Right Path, so there is hope and confidence.
Focus on Future Growth and how we will emerge on top ( seems like that is what Bernanke and Paulson were trying to do, regardless of political opinion)
Allied Effort. We are doing this together.

There is Your Foundation. Have a great day. Pray that leadership will be practiced not orated. TOT

Greetings on the first day of Fall:

Message of the day: THE IRON HORSE

Last night they said goodbye to the old Yankee Stadium and throughout the evening you were reminded of baseball history. One of the great Yankees of all time was Lou Gehrig and unfortunately his career was cut short due to a rare illness. Despite facing death in the eye, he addressed a sold out Yankee Stadium on his retirement day and stated " he was the luckiest man on the face of this earth. Think of that for one moment.

He wasn't complaining about market gyrations. He wasn't concerned that he too just lost his job at first base. He wasn't fixated on the brutal facts that he was facing. He was thanking everyone for what they gave him. Well Iron Horse, we're still thanking you today.

This week in Investors Business Daily, there was an article on the Iron Horse" where he said "my success came from one word- HUSTLE. There is no excuse for a player not hustling. Every player owes it to himself, his club, and to the public to hustle every minute he is on the ball field. And that goes for the star as much for the kid who is fighting to get a regular job."

I don't mean to be long winded and belabor this point, but Yogi Berra said something similar about Dimagio last night. He talked how Dimaggio ran everywhere. Ran out to the outfield and ran in. Never jogged, never walked. Ran.
One time Yogi grounded out and didn't race down the base path. Who greeted him at the foot of the dugout stairs, Dimaggio. He looked at Yogi and re-iterated not in a joking manner that you better run that out for now on.
Point well taken by Berra. As Yogi said, what made him special was this ability to run and give it 110 all the time. He walked the talk. When he got on me, I realized he was right. He ran everywhere, that's what made him special. He had every right to get on me. I had no recourse for he always backed it up.

Have a great day!

Greetings to all on this beautiful Sept. 9th.

Thought of the day: TIME AND SCORE

I was just talking with a former collegue and he mentioned how he is trying to teach a basketball player the relationship between time and score. In all sports you understand timing is important. However, time will shift, the circumstance changes and people need to be flexible. Most people struggle with Time and Score relationship. The Creative Planner, ALLIED EFFORT, is trying to allow you to understand this crucial relationship. This is the time allotted. When can I score. When can I do the things that matter most to me. When can I do the things that I need to do to be responsible. Understanding time and score is the difference between being a champion and the rest of everyone else. Time and Score means knowing where you are batting in the rotation, who gets the ball on 4th and goal and who is taking the winning shot in hoop. Time and Score. Have a great day. TOT

Happy Day after Labor Day:

Thought of the day: "Seasoned Soul"

Labor day usually is symbolic as a time where summer ends and fall begins. A new season is upon us. With each new season comes growth. How we look upon it determines much. Seasoned Soul is what happens to our soul over the many seasons.
In cooking, seasoning adds spice to each dish. Too much seasoning can take away the taste of the meal. Not enough seasoning leaves it bland. You have to find a happy medium to what you can tolerate. However isn't this what happens to us in life. We can put too much seasoning and ruin things or the flip side, be so over cautious, that we fear to attempt new things.

Seasoned Soul is for the person who is still taking the test. Trying to figure it out. Understand that the seasoning is part of each season. Our life is a compilation of seasons. Nothing more, nothing less. Enjoy the ride. Look forward to learning something new in the next season. Enjoy!

Greetings on this Beautiful August 21st.

Thought of the Day: STRONG MINDED

Sticking with the olympic dream and following these phenomenal athletes, the notion of their intestinal fortitude is what carries them. These people developed a long time ago, not only their physical bodies, they became unbelievably " STRONG MINDED". Notice it's not stubborn. Sometimes perhaps but you don't become a champion being stubborn. Strong Minded is knowing when to push the limits and when to pull back.
One of my favorite things happened with Michael Phelps after his 8th gold medal. All he could focus on was the "Desire to eat a cheeseburger". There are many things that motivate people and food is definetly one of them. When setting your goals, I'm a big believer you need to have as many things working for you as possible. I call those things accelerants. It keeps your mind focussed on other things, not the pain of the event. STRONG MINDED. TOT

Greetings: August 15, 2008

Thought of the day: THE GOLD MEDAL

Watching the Olympics is an amazing event. You witness first hand people from around the globe who have strived in a certain area and have become champions in their own right. The margin of victory is sometimes 1/10 of a second. The difference between being called a champion or not. However lets stay focussed to what got them to that point, training, dedication, help from others, luck, precision, grace, their ability to stay focussed to what it is they are trying to do. These Olympians and their coaches give us all something to be proud of. Hope for a better tomorrow. Have a great weekend. TOT

Thought of the Day! GOAL SPECIFIC

Yesterday I had the good fortune of speakign at a basketball camp where the topic was "GOAL SPECIFIC". Whatever we are doing, whatever we wish to do, the more specific we can be, the more direct our plan will be. I use the metaphor often with regards to our life, we need " A Personal GPS". Where do you want to go, that is specific. The challenge then becomes, how are you going to get there. This is where most people leave it to chance.
We need to creat specific LISTS. Then follow and act on that list. Notice the results.
Prepare
List
Act
Notice.
With a GPS, when you are off track it will say Re-calculating, to get you back on the right path. Create the list and start moving in that direction. The more specific the goal is from the outset, the clearer it will be. Have a great day.

Greetings on this beautiful 6th of August:

Thought of the Day:

Your Best Plan:

What's been on my mind a great deal is the notion of staying focussed to " YOUR BEST PLAN"
* Your* it holds us accountable. No pointing fingers, no complaining etc... YOU
*Best* this notion of giving it your very best effort. 110%, it doesn't matter if it turns out poorly, you've learned a lesson. The flip side is phenomenal.
*Plan* Shoot for the stars: Prepare what it is you want. List out what steps need to be taken. Act on the list: Notice the results.

When we do this, we reduce the uncertainty in our day. Leaving it with more Clarity: More productivity and feeling as if we have a purpose. Ciao TOT

Greetings on this beautiful August 4th.

Thought of the Day: AMAZING GRACE

What is " AMAZING GRACE"? Think how wild that would be if you walked around daily, feeling amazing and that you did everything with grace. You would feel part divine! Yet that too is a mind set. So much of our blog is about getting people to focus inward and start recognizing and developing talent. Talent that we have, that needs to be pulled out.
Amazing Grace, is that belief, that all is well and that come heck or high water, the cream rises and you are the cream.

Grace is keeping your head high when everyone is shooting arrows at it.
Grace is keeping your cool, when everyone else is freaking out.
Grace is surrendering to a higher power.
Grace is usually the hard part that develops character. Amazing Grace comes with scars. Yet those scars serve to make us stronger, not weaker.
Stay well, sorry I've been away. TOT

Congratulations and Greetings on this 21st of July.

THOUGHT of THE DAY: CLEAR OR MURKY

Is your day, your week, your month, your year, your mission and purpose, Clear or Murky? Are your goals, Clear or Murky? Not that you have to be super pinpointed toward every little thing that happens, but do you have a relative plan for the day, the week, the month and year and eventually what it is you wish to evolve into.
I think this is a big step for people to understand if it is clear, what are the next things that I need to do, to move me forward in a direction toward your dreams and endeavors. ( sound like Thoreau)
Is it Murky? I'm not sure what I want to do is usually the answer. That is fine, but the thought alone helps you try and unite yourself and start moving you in a direction. A couple of weeks ago we talked about Direction and traction. You need direction, then traction. Many people want to start going somewhere, but they don't know the destination.

When you no longer care if things are clear or murky, your in a frozen spot.

Clear or Murky, Where are you? (Sorry to hit you with a provactive question on Monday morning, but this is a great day to start getting more clear on what we want and start cleaning either the glasses, the windshield or our outlook, to pull things into focus.

When Coaching in College Athletics, we asked these kids every Sunday to go over their weekly and monthly goals. Just to keep them pointed in the right direction.
Have a great day. TOT

Congratulations and Greetings:)

Thought of the Day: IN THE SILENCE ( 12 letters)

In the Silence: What does this mean? Sometimes people crave peace and tranquility, but once they are there, in relatively silence, it drives them crazy.
Other times people get in to the silence for they are alone and going through hard times. The enlightened ones I guess can hang in the silence. However for that party, The Silence can be a rough patch.
Yet remember that all growth , goes through growing pains. In the silence is where you have a chance at Clarity. Clarity leads to direction and strength.

Embrace those moments of silence, for you are closer to your answers, then you think.
The two songs today: talk about being in the silence.
Great old song by INXS: Send a Message: starts out IN THE SILENCE, i think of you.
Josh Groban, You Raise me Up. " and I am still and wait here in the silence, until you come and sit awhile with me.

Two questions for you getting back to Josh.
Who do you raise up?
Who's shoulders do you sit on, that make you stronger?
The first requires a brief smile
The latter a thank you. Have a great day and a phenomenal weekend. TOT

Congratulations and Greetings on this beautiful July 17:

THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Be A Visionary:

What does that mean?
Be a visionary means you have the courage to see something that really isn't there yet. Creativity is the greatest gift we were given. It allows us to see things, try and merge disciplines and create, grand things. This doesn't mean that your spirit will not be tried and tested. It WILL. However, your faith and belief, will grow stronger, especially if you have aligned yourself with others who may not see your vision, but they experience your LIGHT!!!!!

Goal Setting, Goal Planning and Goal Achieving, the main focus behind the Creative Planner ALLIED EFFORT, is about visualization. Have a vision to create something. Have a vision to then Build it( this requires steps and planning). Have a vision to turn it into reality and lead it. Have a vision as how you are to sustain something over time. Not only does this require vision, it requires confidence and belief. By doing small things daily, you develop more confidence, which fortifies your belief, which eventually leads you to faith. If you had the faith up front, the task would be easier, however, all people are different, but what is the same is that we all can

Am I Connected?

Congratulations and welcome back on this beautiful July 16th!

Thought of the Day: AM I CONNECTED?

What does that mean? Let's start out as an individual. Are you connected? Do you and your goals line up! Do you physically, mentally( work), spiritually ( family, personal, emotional) work as one. Are you one united being? Or are you a function of much disjointed efforts?

The task behind Allied Effort, is to get you functioning as one. Congruently!!!!Try and establish this as a habit. This will be your foundation.

As you go and tackle the rest of your day, are you functioning as one within your team? That means at work, with your family, with your softball or any other team. Do you guys function as one, or are you in a dysfunctional relationship.

The Book Allied Effort, tries to steer you from a point perhaps of dysfunction, to functionable, regardless of your situation. How do you do that, by taking the time to figure out, how can I add value to this situation, have a plan and take small steps daily, acting on it. You will not get over the level of peace you will derive, from planning it out ahead of time and working your plan. Todays quote is from John Wooden. It reflects that notion.

When you work your plan, you are less distracted from the other noise, ie media, gossip etc...
Go get em.

Seeing Eye Dog

Congratulations and Greetings. I hope you are enjoying this beautiful day July 15th.

Thought of the day: Seeing Eye Dog!!! ( 12 Letters)

I finished a phenomenal book last night by Jim Nantz titled "Always by My Side". It's a phenomenal story of Jim's career and the guiding light behind it, his dad. However his dad and family fight the horrible disease of Alzheimer's and how brutal this disease can be on all the parties involved. In essence Jim's dad can physically see, but not the world that he shared with Jim and his family.
Jim talks a great deal about his relationship with the Great Ken Venturi, his on the air golf partner, who supports greatly the " Guiding eyes for the blind". These people receive dogs to help them overcome their disability.
The notion when we can't see, someone else will help us find the way. How symbolic is that of life? We all need our version of a " seeing eye dog" at times. Jim was making a reference, that his father and the values that he taught would forever serve him. Like Ken, those loyal seeing eye dogs, forever serve their master. Take a small time today and thank your God for your many blessings. It's easy to get swept away and forget. TOT

Bright Future

Welcome Back. Hope you enjoyed a great weekend. Greetings on this Beautiful July 14th morning.
Thought of the Day: Bright Future

What does this entail? Most of us feel something pretty wild has to happen for this to occur. Bright future, I need to hit the lottery! Bright future, I need to do xyz. Bright future, my boss, wife, husband, need to see me for who I am. ( they just don't get it). We look for some external event to occur. Yet to guarantee a bright future, we need to set our habits and make them great ones. We are creature of habits. When we start taking the time to figure out what we want. What we are willing to do to get there. List it out and create a plan. Then act on the plan.

The problem is that we are all perfectionists. If we don't do something well immediately, we bail on it. We have very little time for activities that don' t show immediate, tangible results.
However, Bright Future, reminds you to start taking care of the little things. Create solid habits. Even if you have bad ones, start minimizing them. If you have ok habits, figure out a way to get better. Bright future requires you to go internally and start planting little seeds.

Todays Song of the Day, is by the King. Elvis Presley. Blue Suede Shoes was to make you feel good about who you are. We all need a pair of Blue Suede Shoes. Sing and dance like the king, life is meant to be enjoyed. Enjoy it by creating your " Bright Future". TOT

A Firm Resolve

Greetings colleagues, on this beautiful July 11:

Thought of the Day: A Firm Resolve

I received an excellent letter from a friend who mentioned a Finnish philosophy calles SISU. Its a spirit, not just a word. A belief, a conviction based on one's internal fortitude. The two quotes today also resemble the same message. The crude English definition for SISU is , strength of will, determination, perseverance, acting rationally in the face of adversity.
Pick up the papers today and you see the same story line, Fannie Mae and Fannie Mac in trouble. Secretary Paulson coming out and stating just the opposite of what people are praying for. Referring back to Dante's Inferno" now is the time for our leaders to step up. In times of great moral crisis, the cowards maintain their neutrality."

Our goal is to be like the Vikings of old. Endure, get stronger, don't sit idle but figure out a way to make not only your plight better, but those around you. That requires you to act proactively and rationally, in the face of adversity. Confront the facts, disregard the opinions, make this day and tomorrow, better than yesterday. Have a great weekend. Dream on....

A note about why Dream on.
In the lyrics,

Sometimes you have to lose to know how to win

Becoming a Pro

Greetings friends, welcome to this beautiful July 10:

Thought of the Day: BECOMING A PRO

As I reiterate, much of ALLIED EFFORT is about adding great value so that you can become part of a great team. When you attempt to add great value, you must go internal. If you want to become professional in your business, personal, spiritual, physical, athletic pursuits etc... develop professional habits. Two points.
I've attended some high school basketball events over the last two days, where some of the best players from all over the United States are showcasing their skills in front of college coaches. They all want to be pros.
Little do they know, what they need to do is develop professional habits in addition to their God Given Skill. Those two worlds need to mesh and evolve in order for them to fullfill their dreams. As they keep evolving, the greater importance on them developing not only physically, but mentally and spiritually( emotionally) as well. Yet that too is an attitude, that is started by Conscientious Thought. Disciplined thoughts, create disciplined actions, that results in disciplined people. Disciplined people are usually professional.
2nd Point. For all you people in the business world. How necessary is it for you to have a positive outlook amongst all the change and loss that has been stirred up over the past year and a half? 95 of all the people right now are caught up in the reality and not trying to figure out. Loss paper profit, loss of job etc... Everyone is complaining and reiterating how dire it is. The ones that perceive this as an opportunity, to reach out to their clients, reinforce that we are appreciate your business when things were going well and the market was over 14,000. We appreciate your business when times are tough and we are going to not only whether this storm, but provide you the best services to help our clients benefit but also prosper moving forward.
Takes guts for no one wants to make that call for they could have a harsh response at the other end of the telephone. However over time, that client will appreciate you not running and hiding and you establish trust. So when this temporary cycle ends, they will be more loyal to you and you showed your professionalism, when times were tough. Its easy when things are good. This is an opportunity to stand up and stand out. Go Get Em.

Bend Your Legs!

Greetings on this beautiful and sweltering July 9th, in the Northeast.

Thought of the Day: BEND YOUR LEGS!

An old axiom we used to say in Coaching is that the more tired and fatigued you became, you had to bend deeper. Your legs were your power base and often when tired, that extra amount of energy that was required, you had to dig deeper and bend your legs. In sport, when you get tired is traditionally when you lift up. When you rise, you lose your speed, quickness and power. Similar in boxing, when you get tired, your drop your hands and your legs get wobbly, you are in trouble.
Vince Lombardi used to say, "fatigue makes cowards of us all."

When you find yourself on the ropes or trying to close that deal, remember those words, bend a bit deeper to summon up one more ounce of energy and go for it.

I bring this up for this weekend I was playing baseball with my son and when he was batting I told him to bend his legs. He told me, he didn't like to do that because it was harder.
From the Mouth of Babes
A six year old understands that message, but true greatness lies just around the corner when you get that little bit extra momentum, when your tired to push through the temporary pain. Bend Your Legs is a metaphor to tap back into your power base so you can be successful.

Have a great day!

Greetings on this great day of July 8th.

Thought of the day: In The Present

In The Present means you live this moment and all the moments TODAY. It's easy to get swept in the demise of the credit crunch, the mortgage meltdowns, worries about inflation, unemployment numbers, the weakness of the dollar etc... the news media has everyone worried about everything and what usually reverses such negative momentum is when people stop worrying about the past and focus on how we can impact the present.
Much of ALLIED EFFORT is to two part
1) how important it is to set goals that are based on who you are and what your purpose is in life. Write it down. Long hand.
It serves as a barometer for you. The three areas I stress is Body, Mind and Spirit.
2) ALLIED EFFORT, is that we are going to do it together. When we try to get too smart, too sophisticated, we isolate ourselves and reject the powerful, positive force that collective energy and momentum have to offer. The old saying there is strength in numbers.

In the present helps you focus on what you can do this day. This week, This month. That's it. Focus on what you can do, not what you can't do.

Have a great day. TOT

Greeting on this beautiful day of July 7

Core Training:

Welcome back. I hope you had a phenomenal Fourth of July Weekend. Todays thought is about Core Training. It's become a popular topic of late. In physical activity, Core Training has to do with your midsection and working on your center. This happens to be your Power Base. All strength comes from your center and works its way out. The Core Training I'm talking about has to do, not only with the physical but the Mental and Spiritual aspects as well. Core training wants you to focus on the whole, not seperate body parts. Much of what we are trying to get to with the notion of ALLIED EFFORT is to make you become one strong person, in body, mind and spirit. Core training is working on those three areas, that will offer balance and strength. I mentioned last week about the importance of Direction and traction. It stems from your core. Where are we, where are we trying to go, what do we want to do, etc... ?This is where you see those books on the right by Ayn Rand for she was attempting for people to have an individual philosophy. A core set of beliefs. This gave a person, some direction and enabled Traction to start. Core training. Look inward, the outward will improve. Have a great day.

A Personal GPS

Greetings on this Beautiful, July 1!

A Personal GPS.

Overcoming Fear.

Most people don't want to admit that we have levels of fear that creep up and prevent us from doing some of the things we wish to do, but we do. That could arise in the conscious or subconscious level.

However in order to overcome this fear, we must First recognize the problem.

Second, we must not give it additional power. In the Words of Aretha Frankin ( and the Beatles) LET IT BE!!!

Third, lets try to examine the situation and see it from a different stand point, this will take out some of the sting.

Fourth, now lets make a decision, to give it our best effort to try and carry on. Just like the song from Styx, try to carry on and shoot for stars and Sail Away.

Fifth, in honor of the Black Eyed Peas, Where's the Love, love has got to over ride your fear. Perfect love casteth out fear. When you love something you go for it. You have to love, that which you seek to overcome.

Sixth, from Swing out Sister ( a band from the 80's) Break Out, no worries, just try it.

Seventh, this sounds great but it's all fluff. Wrong, find something that will motivate you to step up and overcome your fear. If you have children, play Harry Chapin's Cats in the Cradle, to give you some added motivation. So when you want to bail, this will be a friendly reminder.
For what we are all trying to do, especially if we are fans of GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT, is to follow Bono's advice and try to carve out our own " Where the Streets Have No Name"

Go for it, tear down the walls that hold you inside, feel the sunlight on your face and know, that you never get there alone.

A lot for today, but I wanted to share with you some musical thoughts to move you forward.
The last thought from Mariah Carey, " if you believe whats in your soul, just hold on tight and don't let go, you can make it happen."

YOU CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!
